I bought a phrag besseae hybrid, and it came yesterday. The plant itself looks pretty healthy, but it is as yellow as can be. I tried doing a search here to figure out what could be causing the color change, but I can't seem to track down enough info. So what are the causes of leaf color change? Too much light, too much water, not enough of certain minerals?

With Phrag. besseae and its hybrids, water quality is a huge issue. A fresh repotting and a week or two of distilled water should do the trick!

What Stephen said. It took me a while to realize why my phrags (especially besseae types) were not thriving and my paphs were. Besseae are total water snobs. Many paphs can tolerate and even *like* things in the water like calcium or lime. Phrags generally don't like anything in their water. Also if you would like to "green up" a plant you can use epsom salt at one tsp/gallon and it will change the leaf color in a matter of minutes. Someone on this forum gave me that advice I can't remember who...but it works!
