Hi all,
Some years back (around the mid 1990s) many of the large nurseries were selling peach P. besseaes. I believe the flasks originated from the orchid zone. I can't remember the parentage now, but quite a few sellers had them and they indeed bloomed peach in colouration. Quite pretty.
I don't see them anymore or any reference to them ever. Does anyone know if they're still around?
Thanks
Lien

I've seen reference to them, but never seen them for sale. I'd be interested in knowing more about this also (and would love to have one!)
Any clues out there?
Thanks from me too!

Heather,
I emailed several growers who I know had them back in the mid 1990s. I'll let you know their response when I hear from them.

If I'm not mistaken, you're looking for the Paute form of besseae. Orchids Limited had/has them the last time I looked.
Could someone verify that Paute is the form that I'm thinking it is.

Hi Jon,
No, it's a different form of besseae that was widely available back around 1996/1997. a sib cross of two plants that the Orchid Zone made. They bloomed out a soft peach colour, not orange and is shaped like a normal P. besseae.

Here's a response from Jerry Fischer:
"We do not currently have peach besseae available but we are making them again. We should have some in about a year."

I wonder if anyone has crossed regular red besseae with the flavum form. :?:
