We have very similar tastes...wish I were able to go to that show.

The only Maxillaria that I can find that fits would be Max. violacea-punctata. If the piece of tag looks like it could have left this many letters on the other piece it could be it. A few Maxillarias are also known as Max. punctata...but all that I could find are synonyms for other species. Post a pic of the flower when it blooms and hopefully it helps. Who did it come from?

Must have been a lovely day though for repotting...I repotted three catts yesterday evening outside in 80° weather. Life's good!

Jon- No the missing part of the tag is too small to have had that name. It came from Ecuagenera. I will contact them regarding it. The tag was old and brittle and attached to a mount. I will send them a picture of the plant as well. Would you have any Maxie divisions for trade or sale?

When I repot them this spring I will let you know what I have divisions of for trade.
If you would, post the name they send you, I'm really curious as to what species that could be. Thanks.
