I received a young paphiopedilum from my greenhouse manager. I have no idea what species or hybrid it is. Does anyone know what it could be? The mature growth is 18 inches across, 12 inches high. Flowers are 5-6 inches across. Photo of bloom. (http://www.unh.edu/news/campusjournal/2005/april/greenhouses/8.jpg)
Thanks!

Looks to me like something with charlesworthii in it, but other than that I haven't a clue. I am sure someone who is more knowledgeable might be able to help more, but without a tag, never certain. Good luck!

Maybe Mildred Hunter - a complex hybrid? Did I win? Something with insigne in it... Good Luck!

I'm afraid you probably have a complex hybrid there...could be one of MANY hybrids.
I see insigne, villosum, spicerianum, and possibly exul/gratrixianum or charleswothii. I would look for pics of bronze complexes and see if anything looks very close to it. Good luck.

definitely favors something with a lot of insigne in it, but it's not a full-blown modern complex hybrid. however, i don't think you can positively ID it since it could be one of many many things.
