This is another one of my favorite Phrag hybrids. This I got as a trade last summer. Phrag Cardinale is Sedenii x schlimii.

Thanks! You're the first on the list to get a div whenever it is ready. I love this fast growing hybrid!

I know! heehee!
So, its growing fast, good, I was going to ask if it had grown! I know it will be a while though, I can be very patient (sshhhh, don't let on you know how impatient I am!) :?

Looks like it is going to spike again soon, so hope you don't mind waiting a little longer til it's done blooming but who knows I may still divide it for you this summer. I did divide the longifolium, Inca Embers and Grande last summer and all three were in bloom and your divs are doing great.

Nope, don't mind at all! You take your time, and don't rush (like you did w/ the longi, you goof! ended up not being an issue anyway!) I know you're good for it!

Exciting to hear you think it is going to spike soon! :joy: I look forward to seeing it.

I must have missed this post. I like the coloring and the twisted petals :clap2:

Here is what the plant looks like today. It has doubled in size since last summer and has a LS of 25" and will get even bigger as more growths appear and mature. So, Heather I do want to divide it before it becomes a monster plant.

Hm, yes, I can see why!
It has really grown a LOT since last year! Well, still, take your time, when you are ready....

It has about 5 growths I think. I really love this plant even though I'm not a big hybrid fan.

Oh!!!!!!! I love this one. Where did you get yours? I would really like to find one and would like to be sure it is close to your pic.

Sometimes I am dissapointed when I think I am getting the same thing I saw on the forum and it turn out to be different. I bought a Ruby Slippers and it turned out to be a yellow one when I expected it to be red. I have seen Cardinal on Woodstreams list but theirs are always such small seedlings. I would like a mature plant.

I love phrags but there does not seem to be a lot of phrag fans on the forum. They are missing out on soo much beauty.

Grandma,

I got the plant as a result of a trade and I love it! Yes, there are many Phrag hybrids that are being sold as Cardinale and in fact many Phrag Cardinale 'Birchwood' are being sold as schlimii 'Birchwood' and vice versa, so be careful where you get yours from. I just got very lucky, I guess!
