I'm considering self-pollinating my micranthum var. eburneum and wondering when is the bet time to do that ?

How many days after the flower opened ?

Do it now... :) Using pollen from another clone would be better though...

unfortunately I do not have any other pollen available for this species so I'll give it a chance by selfing.... thanks for the answer anyway

I've heard that it is best to wait at least a week after the flower is open. Beyond that, whenever you are ready and the flower is still viable is a good time, the sooner , the better. :)

Do it as soon as possible, gives better seed count and germination

Sooner is better than later, but I have gone weeks out and still had good results.

Also you can cut a small window in the back of the pouch and pollinate through that rather than removing the whole pouch.

Depending on the species, I've had the flower hold up for a few more weeks (post pollination) before it wilts, so I could still enjoy a relatively intact flower for a while.

Its pretty weird the individual species differences. Henryanum flowers start wilting just a few days after pollination and go down pretty fast. Venustum and hirsutisimum flowers lasted for weeks afer pollination. The average seem to hold up for about a week or two before wilting.
