In the April, 1987 AOS Bulletin, Alec Pridgeon talks of a plant called 'Cattleya gargantua' that grew ten feet tall and had 3 foot flowers. There is a photo of a guy standing on a ladder measuring a cattleya flower with a yardstick. The photo is obviously a regular cattleya in the foreground with a man on a ladder in the background. I just wanted to confirm that the whole article was a spoof of some sort and that I'm not, in fact, insane. Thanks

As to the first part of your question, only Baron von StrĂ¼del knows for sure - and he was lost in the Bermuda Triangle. I'm sorry but there is no way I can confirm the second part of your question.

HA! June Orchid Wise of the same year confirms I'm not nuts!
About this, anyway.
