Hey, just dropped this painting off at the Ann Arbor Orchid Society’s annual show for display and thought I’d share it with you guys, too. It’s not my finest moment (the ones that are have sold), but it is my latest and inspired by one of my paph’s blooms:

One of the others I brought was inspired by the first blooming of my Aerangis fastuosa, a wonderful evening-fragrant angraecoid from Madagascar:

Those are excellent...I am humbled by your talent.
I really need more practice, but I've never get the itch to do it since last fall.
Hope they do well in the show.

Glad you’ve enjoyed seeing these.

I occasionally put paintings in orchid shows around here purely for the fun of it. The ribbons and trophies don’t mean for someone in the fine arts what they do for a professional orchid grower or a botanical illustrator (the work of the latter is, understandably, the preferred style at orchid events). Some “orchid people” like my artistic take on them, others don’t. Fortunately, there’s something out there for every taste.

Thanks for all the compliments. I’ll share some better ones with you guys, too. I should post a jpeg of one of my Paph. sukhakulii paintings. That was the plant that started my thing for slippers.

Robin
