I'll give you a multiple choice if someone can't soon... It was sold to me as something different than what it is... Rob
Paphraguy March 2nd, 2005, 08:31 PM Let me guess, is it Paph liemianum?
Paphgirl March 2nd, 2005, 08:40 PM Let me guess, is it Paph liemianum?
Hmmm, I was thrown off by the "lack" of prominant white stripe on the dorsal, but now I see it is there, particularly the profile bloom. Hmmmm....I'm still not certain.
Paphraguy March 2nd, 2005, 08:43 PM It may even be a liemianum hyb.
Anonymous March 2nd, 2005, 08:45 PM Nope... It took me some digging to figure it out. It originated from the Orchid Zone who claimed it was from 2 jungle collected plants tagged as chamberlainianum. There's a pic of the same plant on Parkside's site under chamber. (vict regina) that's also "mislabeled".
It's actually a hybrid! Somebody at the OZ messed up on this one...

That is definitely not a victoria regina.
Anonymous March 2nd, 2005, 09:00 PM It took me some asking around to figure it out and a local grower that used to work at OZ figured it out... It's an Utgard - chamb. (v.r. - you choose) x moquettianum. Yeah, v.r. is way more cool with the bold stripes. I just "traded" it back at the Forum. The Seller had no idea until they bloomed and told me all of the others look the same.... So, if the pic is accurate on the Parkside site, they're selling Utgards as v.r's...not deliberately though...

You're correct! The "vr" pic on Parkside is not a vr. I posted a pic of my vr in bloom here in the Paph gallery.
Anonymous March 2nd, 2005, 09:31 PM Your pic is what prompted me to post this one... v.r. is my fave of that "type"...liem, moq, etc.... I like the bolder coloring and the stripes! So, even though they're nice flowers, I was disappointed...
avery March 5th, 2005, 05:42 AM I have got one from the OZ some years ago and it blooms exactly like yours ! It shouldn't be an hybrid of chamberlainianum since it doesn't have the thick leaf texture and growing habit of chamber nor liemianum.
I saw a couple of examples of some collected moquetteanum and a small proportion of those plants did send out such a bloom. And this plant from OZ, really resemble what a moqueteanum looks like from almost all espects ... So .. IMHO ... I would say it could be an example of a coloured form of moquettenaum .. but of course I wouldn't be 100% sure about what I thought .. I am not the mother God ... :D
Anonymous March 5th, 2005, 03:39 PM Who knows for sure...! :? The person that told me it's an Utgard used to work at OZ and said he knew about a batch that was "mislabeled" that turned out to be just that and the tag number from the grower tied back. It even has the OZ prefix. Then, the person that sold it to me agreed it's an Utgard too. Both of these people are 2 of the top slipper growers on the East Coast. So, the relative newbie that I am trusts 'em... But, I don't agree with everything they tell me...
