I've been out in the yard working all day, (tilling, composting, and bulb planting wheeeee!) and just thought I would share some blooming pics:

That's disgusting! All I see right now when I look out the window are gray skies, brown grass and rain-turning-to-snow!

Beautiful flowers, by the way.

I'll second that, the only green I see is envy :poke:

I'd like a photo of your house/yard, Teresa, you have such lovely plants outdoors as well as in, it seems. I too am a bit envious, but mostly of spending the day outside gardening. Sounds like a day well spent.

Thanks y'all! :Thnx: Actually, my grass is quite brown too :embarass: . We don't water like we should. The neighbors across the street have this neon green lawn that they water everyday. I tried that one month and nearly choked on the water bill. So I told hubby if all the grass dies we can just build a greenhouse to cover it up. :D

Heather, I will try to get a picture of my backyard tomorrow, although there really isn't *that* much blooming. My front yard is nothing special. It is completely shaded for the most part so I don't plant much of anything there. I have a potted hibiscus, jasmine covering most of the lawn, a potted norfolk pine, and I will plant caladiums in March. The backyard is where most of the action is at. But for now, all the roses are setting hips, waiting to be pruned, and my hibiscus are all sulking in the cool weather. I've brought all the orchids that were hanging on my porch inside the 2 seasons room, and my vandas are sulking with the hibiscus. I just cleared two flower beds in the backyard and planted yellow narcissus, yellow and purple daylillies, and multi color ranunculus. There's a white hyacinth in bud, and I also have these but they aren't blooming: purple bearded iris, red reiger begonia, white daylillies, easter lillies, stargazer lillies, and multi colors of bouganvillea.

OK well here are a couple more pics of my backyard. It's actually quite a mess back there so I tried to crop out my piles of dead leaves and dirt. It will look so much better in the spring.

As you can see everything that is blooming fits on one tiny corner. Kalanchoe, Red Crown of Thorns, Bouganvillea (yellow and pink on the ground...looks like a bunch of twigs but actually has blooms), snapdragon, and petunia.

Then from this view we have sulking hibiscus (not blooming), kalanchoe, yellow crown of thorns, reiger begonia (I hacked the darned thing down a few days ago and it has a bloom!), red crown of thorns, asparagus fern. You can see the patio is pretty empty, as is my table where I grow my orchids outdoors. I plan to move them all back out later this month.

Here is one of the two flower beds I tilled and composted. You can see the Bearded Iris, hyacinth, and Joan Senior Daylilies. I also planted narcissus grand Soleil d'Or, Grape Magic and Stella d'Oro daylilies, as well as multi color ranunculus.

I found this pretty little flower growing in several places as I was clearing the ground...I couldn't bring myself to pull it up. ANyone know what it is?

Teresa,

Thanks for the beautiful pictures!

I love the Bouganvillea California Gold! I am out in southern California for the next few weeks and am bringing one home to make a bonsai of.
