Does anyone know when the third installment of his trilogy on Paphs with the Baker's comes out? I got the first two and they were coming out every year. This last year when I was expecting to finish the set...he came out with the new book with Guy Chiron. Is there even going to be a third and last book? Or is the new book taking the place of it? Just curious, and also heard he's doing a Phrag. book.

The new book with Chiron took the place of the entire thing, I believe.

Do you have Russ' e-mail address? He is our society's librarian and they have this book. If you can e-mail him today, he can bring it to the meeting tomorrow for you. If you don't have it, let me know and I will get it to you, or his phone number so you can be sure to get a hold of him.

Brickes houses, Wright Patt, and Hubertucky? I went to Univ of Dayton and live din the ghetto,(for 6 years I might add). I have few friends still in the area. I didn't realize there was much orchid growth in that area. Any local growers there? For my jaunts back for alumni weekends?

There's a few growers in the Dayton and Cincinnati areas. And there are some very bad parts of both that make the news nightly for shootings and stabbings. Most of the growers are in the safe parts though, or in neighboring cities.

Problems with the publisher prevented Guido and the Bakers from publishing the 3rd volume of the series. Guido did publish an excellent book with Guy Chiron, but it doesn't have the climate data...still, it is a book that I would consider essential for any paph grower. Take care, Eric

I work with Russ here at Wright-Pat, so I will go down and see him today.

Thanks Jon, I forgot about checking our library.

I just watched the one on Nothos....it's hard to not order a bunch of eggs right now. Looking at my orchid/plant collection and it's obvious I have no self control so I'm going to have to be very cautious...but the tanks would look so good in my growing areas(so would dart frog terriums come to think of it...but one thing at a time here).
I think I'm going to have to pace myself...I've got a great suppy of captive daphnia I've been raising for over a year now, and brine shrimp eggs are easy enough to come by. Now I need to study raising vinegar eels and microworms and get some cultures. Then I'm going to have to come to some Killi meetings and find a good source for N. guentheri, get some sea salt and start up a couple simple tanks. Then I'm going to have to hope they do miserably so I don't do the inevitable and try to collect every species and form(kidding of course).
Tonight's movie is going to be about collecting in Gabon...and it kind of worries me that the last one didn't bore me at all. The Killi Club might have a new member in a couple months if I know myself very well...I'm starting to feel that "itch".

 pace your self, OF you can believe if you must......vinegar eels are easy to culture as well as microworms. Microworms require you to redo their culture more frequently than the eels. I can help you with all of that and I can find you almost any fish available in the States as well as Europe.

I think you will enjoy the Gabon video, Peter as that grandfatherly smooth voice, he is also the National Chairman this year. We have our convention Memorial weekend. This year it will be in the DC area and I can always find room for one more person :poke:

Let me know about the convention when it nears closer. I enjoyed the video on collecting in Gabon...I swear killifish and orchid meetings are extremely similar.
To get back in practice with aquariums and fish that like live foods, I went to WalMart and rescued a nicely patterened Betta. I set him up a nice little aquarium amongst the plants in the shade and have been reading every website I can find. Of course now I want an expensive line bred crowntail betta that makes my refugee look like a stray cat. I would also like a species one...but apparently there is no demand for them so no one sells them. Looking in my crystal ball I see this fish being the first brick in a large building...oh well, fish and plants have been my vices since I was old enough to walk. Let me know if you know anyone/anywhere locally that does bettas.
