Hi y'all!
Tere are 17 awards registered by the AOS for this grex, 10 HCCs, 6 AMs, and a single JC. Does anyone know the average measurements of the AMs vs the HCCs and what the JC was for? Have a potential purchase to make, and am curious about the previous awards.

Thanks!

Ok, I don't *have* the actual wildcatt program, just the PDFs that Lien posted on the forum, so I cannot do fancy searches with averages and such. However, the JC went to a plant with a NS of 12.6. By far the largest flower awarded. The rest are between 5.0 and 11.3 cm. the majority of which are between 7 and 10cm. Some of the largest ones only received HCCs so I am not sure that size matters too much in this case.

Not sure if that helps. Perhaps someone w/ the actual program could run more detailed questions for you.

Good luck, and WELCOME, btw!! :)

Thanks guys, and BOY  do I feel welcome...LOL! The plant is (believe it or not) at Home Depot, and is a perfect flower, absolutely symetrical, but only about 5-6 cm wide. It i a first bloom, one growth plant, so I would expect future flowerings to be better. I don't mind buying plants where I find them, as long as they are worthwhile. I bought a Paph. Meteor (P. Maudiae "Silverado" x P. lawrenceaum) a couple of months ago, flat as a piece of cardboard, symetrical like halves of mirror, and an NS of 13 cm on a first blooming. I can't wait to show it if I bloom it out well next year.

Welcome, Brian. Sorry I was slow in responding to your post. OrchidWiz shows 18 awards with the largest natural spread at 12.6cm, the median at 9.3cm and the smallest at 5.0cm. The most recent one awarded had a spread of 8.6cm. There is no correlation between Natural Spread and the award. In fact, the 5.0cm flower got an AM. Wait, on reading further, this must be a misprint in both OrchidWiz and Wildcatt. The dorsal on the alledged 5.0cm NS flower is measured at 9.2cm.
