I've tried many. Mostly, I've been disappointed in the size/relative cost of the plants. I am sticking with local folks because of this. But I still love looking though the catalogues for ideas.

Another good one is Forest Farm in Oregon. Their selection is incredible, having many things that are difficult to get anywhere else ranging from rare conifers to woody shrubs to perennials, and so on. You should get their "catalog" just for the read - it looks like a miniture encyclopedia! Shipping prices may make you balk however especially with oil prices being what they are.
A good local nursery is best for larger plants like trees and shrubs, but sorry, without mailorder nurseries you just can't get the really rare stuff. But I'm biased, I live for the rare stuff myself!
TADD: Lowe's? Is that a nursery? :laugh2: C'mon! Gimme a break! :poke:

I live here in Oregon, and I work at a nursery. I am a plant geek, probably to the extreme. One of my favories(though quite expensive) is Heronswood up in Washington. They are quite amazing. If my brain was working today, I could name off alot of locals. What are you looking for?
here comes one...Collectors Nursery...
