RickL April 8th, 2005, 01:48 PM Nice and dark.
How does this species compare to calosum for size and culture requirements.
celticbear April 8th, 2005, 01:54 PM The flower is ~ 3/4 the size of the one from callosum but the culture is the same. This two plants flowering at the same culture requirements in my growing area.
yes the flower is very dark. Between blue and dark purple. Very nice. I like it very much.
This clone is Paph. barbatum ("Plum Pretty" x Floradice AM/AOS)
RickL April 8th, 2005, 02:02 PM I like it too. Maybe I'll trade in my callosum for barbatum.
Does yours produce double blooms?
Paphgirl April 8th, 2005, 02:05 PM That looks a lot like my maudiae hybrid I've got opening now at the office. Must be in the background somewhere.
Very nice!
RickL April 8th, 2005, 02:11 PM I think maudiae were all based off of callosum.?
celticbear April 8th, 2005, 02:27 PM No, my paph produces only one flower per spike.
Paph Maudiae is lawrenceanum x callosum. But it's true Paph barbatum looks like Maudiae cause all this paph are from the same section.
Park Bear April 8th, 2005, 02:32 PM I also like the rich, dark colors of this paph. I sure hope the flowers last a long time :clap2:
Paphraguy April 8th, 2005, 02:35 PM I like this dark species, nice photo also!
Paphgirl April 8th, 2005, 02:38 PM Paph Maudiae is lawrenceanum x callosum. But it's true Paph barbatum looks like Maudiae cause all this paph are from the same section.
Mine's the old TJ's favorite, Supersuk x Raisin Pie, which actually, Garland posted a photo of the other day, but mine looks more like this (a lot more) than like his.
celticbear April 8th, 2005, 02:39 PM Yes Park Bear the flower stay long time... it's a real pleasure of course !!!
Thanks
Jon in SW Ohio April 8th, 2005, 03:37 PM Beautiful flower and photo!
This is one of those paph sections which makes me glad I didn't go for a career in taxonomy...that and being fluent in latin.
