Hi everyone. So glad to have found this forum. It was suggested by someone on this forum that I ask my question about Paph. niveum

I just seen a beautiful picture on this board of it. I have the chance to get this orchid, the only think is it is a seedling size. Does anyone know if house temps and window light how long this paph would take to bloom?

I have my paphs in my home as at the moment I only have two of these beauties. I have no troubles blooming paphs at all.

If there is any other info regarding this Paph that would be greatly appreciated.

I also have another love and that is madevallias, I am just getting into them and have one at the moment with 3 others on their way soon along with my paph niveum. I would like to concentrate on just the paphs and masdevallias.

I also have 5 phals one always has to start with these, 1 miltonia, 1 dendrobium, 1 vanda, 1 cymbidium

I look forward to reading the posts you all have and once again glad to have found you all.

Welcome aboard.
Niveum is a great plant for windowsill culture IMHO. Seedling size is probably only about a year from bloom as they don't get too big when mature. If you're humidity is below 50% it might take a little longer to mature, but they are pretty tough in dry conditions as well. My first Paph was a primary hybrid with niveum(Psyche) and it bloomed and grew well on a dry widowsill with african violets.
The only problem I have ever noticed with niveum is that it must not stay constantly soggy or in stale potting mix as they can rot easily...especially the roots and base of the plant. So repot it at least once a year and let it dry out slightly between waterings and you should be able to do very well with this species.

Welcome! Ditto to what Jon said. House temps are fine for niveum. I have good luck with niveums because I tend to let my Paphs get a little drier than some other growers I know.
