I was excited to see my Paph. Gemstone's Randchild 'Lois Cox' AM/AOS in spike, but can't say I was expecting this. The first flower decided to form a dorsal sepal and a staminode all in one, thus economizing the energy I suppose lol.....
Before you ask, NO I do not use SuperThrive, and have never tried it on orchids(works great on foliage houseplants however at higher strength)
The last picture is a different clone 'Mary Cox' AM/AOS, both from the same grower, Tom Cox, but one plant came from California and one came from Florida. Both normally have exceptional blooms, but I think all the grey days we had when it decided to spike may be the problem.
Oh well, I always liked the orchid freak show...and this one won't cost two bits a gander.
