Hello,

I would like to try calypso bulbosa to increase from seeds. Can anybody a little tell me plant to the culture of these here? Somebody is also possible this one knows and can tell me the conditions like the temperatures at the nature location and precipitations are there in the course of a year here.
Excuse for my bad English.

Yours sincerely.

You might check with Troy Meyers of the Meyers Conservatory. I just check on his website and found out that he had submitted seed to his own flasking program from Calypso. So apparently we was culturing this species too.

I know that there are many growers specializing in the native orchids, but I don't know many web adresses at this point. On this site Fundlopanchax grows many Cypripedium, and you might also check with Wayne Roberts at orchidmix.com.

Hertzlichen Glückwunsch!

I mean this both idomatically and literally: I hope you are doing well, and I wish you the best of luck, for you shall need it.

From what I understand, Calypso is very much dependant upon its symbiotic myocorrhizal relationship. I have heard that C. bulbosa has been flowered in flask, but I have heard nothing regarding successful pot or garden culture.

Please, PLEASE, report back about your experience. I recently got some C. bulbosa seed which I totally failed to germinate. They are the most amazing things, and even if we can't get them to grow out of sterile culture, we might be able to bloom them in sterile culture, and then cross them with something a little more hardy and adaptable.

Fröhliche Weinacht, and a happy Hanukkah!
