Not the most spectacular fairrieanum I've seen, but it's got sentimental value none the less. Again, it's in spike so I thought I would share last years bloom to help aid my patience.

Very nice! I don't have one and may get one in the future. How big do the plants get at maturity? Thanks for posting.

It looks like a thin leaved(thickness not width) hirsutissimum to me. Same size, leaf shape and all that. Blooms easily and growths mature quickly and forms a clump quicker than any other paph I know of.

(I could have sworn I replied to this already!)
Interesting to hear a different "view" - I always think of fairreanum as looking like Pippi Longstocking or some flippy 60's hairdo that got a bit out of hand! LOL! I like this analogy much more - too funny!

I'm not sure why, but I always think of a Buhdist temple when I see these guys.
I like this species. I bloomed one this past fall from a FV plant called "red" . Big dorsal and lots of color.

This is my favorite paph of all time!!!! What is the average leafspan of a blooming plant? I have 4 or 5 of these beauties and can't wait to bloom them! Why are they coinsidered hard to grow? Any hints or tips on blooming? Thanks for posting, I have to go clean the drool off of my keyboard now!

Both of mine have adult leaf spans of about 6" , but there are some varieties and cultivars which are bigger. I heard they were tough too, but they have turned out to be pretty easy. I keep mine amongst my phrags which get pretty good light , not too warm, and breezy. My winter lows get into the mid to low 50's and summer highs in the low 90's. I hold the water back a bit more in the winter (not unlike brachy culture), and I also add oystershell to the potting mix. They have "soft" leaves, so they seem to be susceptable to problems if the humidity is low, and you try to compenstate by increased watering.
