I got these from Sam in October. They already put out a new leaf. Some seedlings have a slight purple leaf margin but they are still babies. Not lost any seedling!

Bolero January 25th, 2010, 01:45 AM Fantastic looking seedlings. Sam grows them well and he's not coming to Australia this year.......((SIGH))
birdy January 25th, 2010, 05:34 AM It's probably because of their small size but they don't look like vinicolor but just classic form.
What's the color under the leaves?
Paphi January 25th, 2010, 08:13 AM very very nice:heart::heart::heart:

I was just wondering about that. The flask leaves have purple spots on the underside and the base of the plant is purple. The new leaves have purple spots that are darker than the flask leaves due to more light from my observation. They are more darker due to density of spots.
I grew Paph delenati fifteen years ago they they were not that dark purple at all.
Paphman910
Justin January 25th, 2010, 09:47 AM These are definitely the vinicolor form, you can tell from the undersides of the leaves, which are close to solid purple. Normal delenatii has only purple stippling under the leaves.
This form will develop purple margins around the tops of new leaves, but then the margins fade as the leaf ages, which is what you can see on these flasklings. As the plants grow the purple margins will become more apparent.
birdy January 25th, 2010, 09:56 AM As I said, it's necessary to wait for because they are small plants.
But on my 2 delenatiis vinicolor (and I have a young plant, less of 10cms), the color under the leaves is completely purple (it's even almost black!) and all the leaves are always purple "border".
An exemple from my friend Philippe:

Your observation is correct! I totally agree with you on that point
Paphraguy January 25th, 2010, 11:21 AM Beautiful plants! I need to get one someday.

Justin January 28th, 2010, 04:09 PM from the few seedlings i have, the vinicolor/dunkel do seem to grow a little more slowly than regular delenatii. i have bloomed delenatii in 3 years from flask...i will be interested to watch how long this batch takes to bloom

I will post picture from time to time. They are growing in a mixture of sphagnum moss and coconut husk.

I have heard from others that the vinicolors are less vigorous. I have 2 seedlings that I got at about 4 in LS and they have both been growing like little weeds. However, don't have the regular form to compare to.

I remember growing the regular delenati and they flower in 3 to 4 years from flask. These vinicolor seedlings are fast growers and the leaves are getting wider. I grow them warm conditions with my Paph stonei. I fertilize them every other watering with 20-20-20 and alternate with 10-52-10 with epson salt. Seems to help.

I do about the same thing. Maybe growing them warmer helps them along. I measured the LS and mine have gone from 4 inches to around 6 inches in 8 months.

Susan
I grow them warm and temperature never drop below 20 C (70 F). Your delenati is probably near blooming size. I heard the vinicolor form is a smaller plant.

After almost 6 months I had to repot it so these little seedling will take advantage of spring and they are growing new roots. The individual seedlings are too much work so I put them all in a single compot!

The first picture shows a seedling amputation due to a brown spot! It has no smell and it was dry.
The third picture shows a seedling (in the center) with a spot of brown spot. If it spreads I will amputate the spot and spray with physan.

i wish i had that many--i only have 3 seedlings, one of which is almost BS. they are beautiful plants.
