besseae 'Big Bob' x 'Colossal'

The first of these new strains of mine not to have anything deformed on the first bloom. The outside of the dorsal is awfully pebbly, but the bloom turned out nice. Not as red, much more orange in color. If we have sun tomorrow I will attempt a better photo. A bit fuzzy tonight.

Nice form, I think, and a nice full pouch. Better than I thought it would be.
Geez, I love these!

Congratulations Heather!!

The second bud on my 'Big Bob' x 'Colossal' from Mountain Orchids opened last night!

What is interesting is that the outside of the dorsal was also pebbly like you described yours to be. (I was really afraid that it would not make it.) I went away, checked back in a few hours, and noticed a leaf was out and it was opening.

Just a question: are besseaes (phrags in general) faster to open than paphs? Seems so, in my limited experience. I have some paphs that are taking months!!!!
