View Full Version : Phragmipedium bessae var flava
paphjoint November 29th, 2005, 11:26 AM Here's in my opinion a rather pale and small (6,5cm) flowered bessae var flava

Paphgirl November 29th, 2005, 11:30 AM While I agree, you got a nice shot of the little vents. I always like those on the flava besseaes.
It reminds me of a baby one I got (my first besseae) that I think was a little too young to be blooming
and suffered because of the stress.
It eventually got traded back to the vendor for a larger more mature plant.
It was very small, pale and narrow like yours, but still so lovely! How big is the plant?
Greenpaph November 29th, 2005, 11:33 AM Uri,
I love it!
thanks
paphjoint November 29th, 2005, 11:37 AM The plants is 25 cm, 2nd time flowering
davesans November 29th, 2005, 11:43 AM That's a pretty cool looking flower not a big fan of white but it has a nice look to it 8)
Paphraguy November 29th, 2005, 11:44 AM That sure is very pale. I have never seen one so pale before.
Bill Zimmerman November 29th, 2005, 12:00 PM The flower almost looks white. This might be an interesting step towards white bessaes with some selective breeding...
Ron-NY November 29th, 2005, 12:19 PM That sure is very pale. I have never seen one so pale before.
I agree. It is lovely!
Park Bear November 29th, 2005, 02:03 PM that is a neat looking flower
Rob Zuiderwijk November 29th, 2005, 04:04 PM Uri,
That's great looking flower. I've never seen such a white Phrag except for a couple of Hanne Popow's. It's beautifull.
RZu.
RickL November 29th, 2005, 04:04 PM It sparkles
TADD November 29th, 2005, 04:25 PM Very cool!
phragfan November 29th, 2005, 09:02 PM It looks like you have a very unique plant. Better hang onto it tightly, but if you ever want to get rid of it...
Gideon November 30th, 2005, 06:40 AM WOW Uri    That is lovely, I really like this one
phrag guy November 30th, 2005, 07:46 AM I also like it. i wished I lived in the states and we could bred it with a whit hanne popow.
tomkalina November 30th, 2005, 09:50 AM Very, very nice. It's the closest to white besseae var flavum I've seen and IMHO, could be quite valuable; not necessarily for hybridizing - but for selfing to lock in the white color. Thanks for sharing the photo.
