 I was playing Tomb Raider: The Anniversary with some friends last weekend and I was pleasantly surprised to find the famous adventurer Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider games grows orchids! Here are two shots of her admiring her orchids in her bedroom. This is the second videogame that I have come across that has orchids or slipper orchids featured prominently.

The leaves look like Cymbidiums leaves and the flowers look like Cattleya flowers.

Yes, it is available on xbox360, PS3, Wii and PC and I played the PC version with the xbox360 controller. The latest one in the series The Underworld came out last December and I'm thinking of getting it for my xbox360 or PS3 or maybe even for my PC.

It would be nice if she takes a trip to Borneo and climbs the cliffs with Paphs like rothschildianum, sanderianum, stonei and philippinense all around.

Lol I can picture her collecting rare paphs instead of rare artifacts and fighting bad dudes at the same time.really funny! Ill stop by gamestop and see if they have a used copy on x360. Thanks Peter

With all that globe trotting she should have picked some Paphs or Phrags.

The new Lara looks nothing like the old Lara. Sounds like the game will be harder this time.

Ok, guys, don't beat me up for this but is it a bit weird that we are not only noticing orchids in video games but trying to identify them. Will we next be trying to find out her cultural practices and badgering the game creators into making sure they have them accurate and that they have the right light, etc.

LOL Don't get peeved, it is just an observation on how orchid addicted we all are.

;)

LOL Very true! Only an orchid enthusiast or addict would notice such things! Did you see the one with slippers in another video game? LOL

No, I haven't seen any video games since I had kids. Maybe when they get old enough to be interested in them I will have the chance again. :(
