View Full Version : Phrag Fliquet jacob1 November 22nd, 2005, 08:06 PM Anyone have one and if so do you grow it dry or wet? Paphraguy November 22nd, 2005, 08:35 PM I don't have this particular hybrid but if I did, I would give it moist conditions. bhams November 23rd, 2005, 08:22 AM I do have this cross & Ruby Slippers I also have Demetria -Geralda -all of these are X's of Phrag caudatum Varities. I have had quite large plants lose a whole mature size growth with what I call ' caudatum rot " by being too wet so now in winter I really limit water to the above varieties and grow them more with caudatum requirments . I live in Western australia and in winter they are in a heated glasshouse . Where you grow them will make a difference to what you need to know . good growing Billie dustyatticstuff November 23rd, 2005, 10:12 AM Just by coincidence, I found this listing on ebay this morning. http://cgi.ebay.com/Phrag-Fliquet-4N-RARE-Orchid-Plant-Division-IN-SPIKE_W0QQitemZ7727320464QQcategoryZ42218QQtcZphot oQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem It's a little to pricey for me  , but it certainly is very lovely! couscous74 November 23rd, 2005, 10:45 AM Looks nice, but not worth that price to me either. Especially when you could probably buy about 10 nice blooming phrags for that money... I'm sure someone out there will be happy to buy it though. :-dance: TADD November 23rd, 2005, 12:20 PM 10? I would say 15 :) couscous74 November 23rd, 2005, 12:27 PM 10? I would say 15 :) What do I know about phrags ... I haven't bought one... yet... Paphgirl November 23rd, 2005, 02:11 PM What do I know about phrags ... I haven't bought one... yet... oh? really? :poke: couscous74 November 23rd, 2005, 04:19 PM :Shh: That Beverly Fischer doesn't count until next week... Paphraguy November 23rd, 2005, 04:25 PM :Shh: That Beverly Fischer doesn't count until next week... Marcus, I thought you got a Phrag Cardinale from Ratcliffe this past summer. Anyway, you should add a few Phrags to your collection. :poke: Paphgirl November 23rd, 2005, 04:50 PM :Shh: That Beverly Fischer doesn't count until next week... The eagle has landed. :nocomment: (seriously, SO glad you got one - you're going to love it, the fragrance is the BEST! I really like this hybrid a lot.) couscous74 November 23rd, 2005, 04:59 PM Gotta get up pretty early around here to slip one past Pete :D Yes, that one was a freebie that Paul threw in to my order. Thanks Paul! I just haven't really shopped for phrags much, and will be receiving my first purchase (Bev Fischer) next week. In case anyone's interested, OL found a few more to sell... fred November 23rd, 2005, 05:08 PM that is way over board I believe Glenn has them reasonably priced if anyone is interested Paphraguy November 23rd, 2005, 05:12 PM Fox Valley Orchids has NBS seedlings of 4N Phrag. Fliquet (MDC 4N x Grande 4N) on sale for $ 59.95 bhams November 23rd, 2005, 07:54 PM Phrags out there like China dragon which I would buy -my ruby slippers is nicer than Fliquet -When I bought mine they were (98-99 ) expensive to others but they were new in long petal reds . definatly dont think there worth that much now . My thoughts Billie If I had that much to spend on a phrag I'd be in that line with heather buying "besseaes" jacob1 November 23rd, 2005, 08:30 PM The Belle Houge........(was it?) looks really nice Anyone know the parentage Paphraguy November 23rd, 2005, 08:39 PM Belle Hougue Point is caudatum x Eric Young, another one of my favorite hybrids. jacob1 November 24th, 2005, 07:24 AM Must have.............NO, I NEED ONE !! I dont have one. :( Paphraguy November 24th, 2005, 08:11 AM They are similar to Ruby Slippers but with much larger flowers. Definitely get one if you like the red long petals. |
