I was wondering what the consensus is on taking my plants out of their saucers for the winter and only watering about once a week. Of course smaller pots need more attention and my besseaes and seedling in small pots get watered daily. I was wondering if i should stay with the saucers with an inch of water in winter months. Tucson Az has around 300 sunny days a year and the winter tempeatures are on the averate 70 days and 35 nights..

I don't see any harm in leaving the plants on the saucers if you are going to water less in the winter.

If the winter night temperature doesnt drop too low then leaving the plants on the saucers should be ok. If it gets too cold then remove the saucers to avoid rot.

An inch of water is a lot water for plants to sit in during winter. I suggest that you remove the saucers.

i vote for leaving as-is...i just saw a lecture by ray barkalow, and he says he gives his plants in semi-hydro no seasonal change in watering...
i would also worry about too much water loss thru the leaves if you remove them from the reservoir.
