Hey all

Gordon has two Phragmipediums (or two types). He has a few seedling longifolium and a Scrodereae whcih refuses to die even though it's treated like a catteleya. This weekend Gordon and I crossed each of our schrodereae with each other. The flowers look like this

Gordon's

Mine

Question

If I'm lucky enough to get a pod out of this (let alone seed) how long will it take the pod to mature?

Cheers
Stephan

It could take 2-3 months for the pod to finish. Than the seed could grow in a month or take 6-7 months to show any signs of growing.
Good luck

The fastest pods for me have been about 80 to 90 days (pearcei). The big long-petaled guys have taken twice as long. Germination is usually between one and two months, and I have gotten 2 species out of flask (pearcei and lindleyanum in a little less than a year.

Many people "green cap" the pods way before maturity, and get great results.

I thought I had to wait for the kids to leave the room before I opened this thread :poke:

Some nice looking flowers you got there Stephan.
We keep catching glimpses of your rainforest yard there. How about a photo tour one of these days?
