I've got an order into Sherwood Orchids, before they close up, and they have two phrag Jason Fischers available.

One is: Jason Fischer (Mem. Dick Clements x besseae 'Noyo Red')

The other is: Jason Fischer (besseae 'Noyo' x Mem. Dick Clements)

I know this isn't an exact science, but any hunches as to which variation of the cross is better? I happened to read this on OrchidWeb (not that I have any idea if it's true), regarding one of their crosses:

This should be an excellent Jason Fischer because Phrag. besseae was used as the pod parent. Jason Fischer's made with besseae as the pod parent have always shown greater shape, color and consistancy in the flowers.

ACtually, funny guy, I am buying two because they're so damn cheap! But I'm trying to figure out whether to buy two of one, or one of each. Depending on whether there's any real difference.

Hhhmmmm not sure. Buy 2 fairrieanums instead... :poke: I would probably buy one of each, but that is just me. I think it would be neat to have different looking flowers. 2 of the same blooming together blah! But then again that is just my uneducated thought pattern... :evil:

Then, you'll want 'Noyo' x MDC.

One of each is good though, hedge your bets!

If they're a really good deal, take the amount that you'd be willing to pay for 2 good plants, divide it by the price you're actually paying and buy that many. If they're half price, don't buy two, buy four! then you can mix up the crosses! :Party:

I vote for one of each also. some plants just are better than others with the same parents and same growing conditions I have Jason Fishers growing side by side everything the same but one does better than the other just looks bigger.I have Three Jason Fisher ( besseae ' Cow Hollow II' x Eric Young ' Rocket fire ' 4N ) and one Jason Fisher mem. Dick Clements ' Rocket Flash ' 4N besseae ' Cow Hollow II 'The one with dick clements seems like a smaller plant but has already bloomed for me and I'm still waiting on the other three. although looks like 06 will be the year they bloom for me looking forward to seeing that happen. good luck on what ever you choose.

it seems that basseae as pod parent gives the best plants...

besseae will be the nicest coulor and the the person who has the Eric Young cross you have a Don Wimber which is probally very nice as I have flowered out a few of them
