I also got a couple of nice young sanderianum seedlings. First one is a nice big one from Al's, well, big for a sanderianum seedling anyway! Second from Windy Hill, has some catching up to do - hopefully it will be envious of its' big brothers' size and GROW!
The big guy...

Paphraguy March 30th, 2005, 05:24 PM Wonderful! Absolutely gorgeous and such well grown plants! :joy: Your roeb flowers will be just spectacular. Mine is still in bloom and 2 more spikes coming up.
Paphgirl March 30th, 2005, 05:27 PM You'd better post pics of YOUR new "baby" tomorrow, Paphraguy!
(that was the understatement of the year!) :P
I'm so jealous! But, I love mine also - thanks for the nice comments, they are lovely. Though, I just realized the little guy is only half what I thought the cross was, 'Dragon Dance' x 'Dark Spider'. That's cool though...
Anonymous March 30th, 2005, 05:28 PM New plants! Ummm...can I have the philip? So glad to see you're still sticking with the compact growers...
Paphgirl March 30th, 2005, 05:36 PM Ummm, if i can have your 12-14" sand? :poke:
On second thought, ummm *just* no. :cheeky:
I'm quite happy about my phil. var. roeb. (Yep, I am a slippah splittah!) LOL!!
wolfcreekmn March 30th, 2005, 06:15 PM Hi Heather, very nice plants ! I was wondering your big sanderianum seedling you just got what is the leaf spand and how long will it take to get it to bloom? I heard they are very slow growers .
I was just wondering thanks for the info.

It is just a little over 8" and gosh, I don't know, 10-15 years maybe? *yawn* Yeah, they're pretty slow growers. I've also heard they don't bloom generally until there are several new starts in addition to the mature growth. The other one is 5" and I have a third that is also about 8" but not quite as robust as this one.
Park Bear March 30th, 2005, 09:10 PM I thought I read where you could not buy anymore plants  , but there is always room for just one more or however many you brought home :poke:
Emydura March 30th, 2005, 09:31 PM Beautiful looking plants. I'd kill to get a decent size sanderianum. They are just not available in Australia. You can buy plants just out of flask from time to time, but they are so small I would just be wasting my money. Anyone from Australia seen larger plants for sale?
I'm a bit amazed at the variation in size of these roebellinii's. Your's looks so compact yet it is still flowering. I don't know if you saw mine. Each leave would be considerably longer than your whole plant. Too big for a small glasshouse.
David
Paphraguy March 30th, 2005, 10:11 PM I have 2 different roeb crosses, one is more compact like Heather's new roeb and the other is larger with longer more slender looking leaves.
SteveT March 30th, 2005, 11:54 PM make sure the big one gets more water.

Yes, well, technically, I said that *after* these had been purchased - I was just waiting it to warm up enough for them to ship. :D I actually have been holding the roeb. since January! Winter....pffftt!
Thanks all for the nice comments. Steve - yes, will water more of course. David, this roeb. is very much like my roeb. aureum 'Greenlace' which is very compact and a dense grower. Both have very juicy thick short leaves. There's a photo of the 'Greenlace' in the "which plant has your favorite leaves" thread.
fred April 2nd, 2005, 04:03 PM Hi Heather that is a nice Roeb. did that come from Al's also. and it is in spike too good going. Ray
