Sioux 'Robin' HCC/AOS
Orchilla 'Chilton' FCC/AOS
Via Vulcan Verde 'Petticoat' HCC/AOS
Winston Churchill 'Redoutable' FCC/AOS
Mojave 'Sunset' HCC/AOS
Lalime 'Superba' AM/AOS
Freckles 'Althea' AM/AOS
Freckles 'White Sapphire' HCC/AOS
Freckles 'White Tiger' AM/AOS

and yes, Heather, I got another Hellas 'Westonbirt' FCC/RHS :poke:
Over half are in bud, some of those with 2 or 3 buds! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they don't blast because of being shipped.
Mang November 3rd, 2005, 12:37 AM Fantastic buy! Would love to see them blooming esp the Freckles & 3V Petticoat.
BTW which plants are in bud?
Regards Mang

Well, it's my last MAIL ORDER purchase. The weather here in November can be extremely variable with the temps getting quite cool. In fact, it was either last year or 2 years ago, the low on the first Saturday of November was below 0F. I just don't trust shipping once the night time temps are consistently below freezing.
So what did you get, Heather? :poke:

Sounds like a very nice collection there! I am starting to really like the complex paphs. They are so shiny and glossy :poke: One day I will break down and get myself a bulldog...one day SOON maybe :poke:
KMEichhorn November 3rd, 2005, 09:49 AM Does Tonkin's Orchids have a website?
Thanks!
dwclapp November 3rd, 2005, 10:09 AM So Ross, with all those neat bulldogs you gonna be doing any new and interesting breeding? I'm thinking the Hellas x henryanum going for a mini bulldog with a spotted dorsal.

Not that I'm aware of. Last year I got a list from Valerie tonkin and ordered some items, then. A few weeks back, I received a post card announcing a closeout sale, November - January, Saturdays and Sundays 10:00-5:00, 1330 Isabel Ave., Livermoore, CA 94550. I contacted Valerie and ordered using last year's list. If you want more details, send me a PM.

I do have a similar cross in flask: henryanum x Bell Ringer 'Brocade' . Here's Bell Ringer

It's a nice older complex that is smaller than the more modern ones.

That's assuming the henryanum plant size dominates. This is not always the case. As I stated in another thread, the barbigerum x White Knight cross that Tom Larkin made has turned out to be as large as the White Knight. It may take several generations of breeding before the desired mini's are achieved.
