My Mexipedium (received in August with 10 growths, now has two new starts) has just finished blooming. I wonder when might be a good time to repot. I could leave it as is, it seems happy enough. It's in Marilyn's bark mix (from Windy Hill of course!) Eventually I would like to put it in a nice bonsai pot, but maybe it is just best left alone for now?....I don't know, two new starts. Anyone have any recommendations?

I would think that now is the time to repot if I read the post correctly and there are 2 new starts. New growth means new roots soon. Although I do not have this little gem yet it is certainly on the list!

I was thinking the same, yes, two new starts.
Are Ed and Rick still around, perhaps they could confer?

Interestingly, both of the last buds on each spike blasted. The first spike about a month ago, leaving three more buds to go on the second spike. Has me wondering if it is just ready to spend more of its' energy on new growth.

Perhaps I'm up for a trip to Bonsai West tomorrow. :D

Sounds like a happy little plant you have there. If its doing well and the mix is not broken down, and its not growing out of its pot, then I would not repot it.

I'm finding this plant very easy and tolerant to work with. I've disturbed it from its pot prior to and after it started blooming, and its still blooming after a grasshopper munched the spike down to the youngest bud:shock:

I'm seeing new runners on mine too, and old runners are just starting to get roots. I'd repot now Heather.

go for it HeaTHER. a FRIEND OF MINE HAS A NICE ONE AND HE REPOTED WITH NEW GROWTH AND INTO A Bonsai Pot as well, it really takes off after it gets established. The fun part is trying to direct the runners where you want them Ray
