I am experiencing leaf tip die back on my Phaius Tankervillae. I don't think I overfertilize. I moved them out of the sun, so I don't think it's sunburn. What should I try to stop this? They are in a mixture of pro-mix, bark and a little sphag. I keep them moist, but not sopping and let them dry slightly between waterings, and fert about twice a month, 1/2 strength with a balanced orchid fert and superthrive. They are actively growing and putting out new growths ad roots. Should I throw some horsey poo on them?

I don't know what caused your plant to have that leaf die back but my Sharry Baby did that just this past summer from my neglect and too much direct sun outdoors. I cut off the affected area and the plant is doing fine now making plenty of new growths and even a spike. So, good luck and keep us posted. Hope you get some good tips!

Teresa,

if you're Phaius is on that pebbly bowl of water that could also be a problem... even though the fertiliser strength is less than recommended, if it collects in that bowl, it gets stronger... so would probably try flushing the plant and the bowl with water.

Yeah, he was out late last night, terrorizing others (small children, none the less!)...No such luck, I guess. Sigh...
