Jon's picture sent me up to look at my Iantha Stage, and it is in bud, again! Here's a picture of last fall's bloom. The flower petal span was around 21cm or slightly over 8 inches. I sent it to be judged at the Chicago Center, but it was rejected because of a color break in the pouch. It's currently carrying a pod.

I like this hybrid. I also like the sukhakulii parent. Lots of nice spots. It imparts interesting traits into its' hybrids, and it is small. Which is good for me. Congrats on your new spike!! :joy:

This particular hybrid is not all that small, however. The leaf span is in the neighborhood of 24 inches or 2 feet.

Is the other parent rothchildianum? Do you have a picture that shows the staminode?

Very nice!
Mine ended up sukhakulii dominant, and it looks like you lucked out getting one roth dominant. Your's is really a monster...my leaf span has never exceeded a foot. Hope the next flower brings you an award, it deserves it.

Yes, Rick, Iantha Stage is rothschildianum x sukhakulii
Thanks, Ron. I didn't want to buy the plant because I have limitted space, but my wife, Julie, insisted. I'm really lucky I listened to her!
