This is the first to bloom from a compot I purchased a few years ago.
It was registered by the Eric Young Foundation in 1997 and is the
offspring of Phrag. Memoria Dick Clements x Phrag. longifolium.
I like the color but it does lack in good form. I hope that the one
I traded to one of our members flowers soon as I would like to compare
the two.

The color's great!
Mine seems to have adjusted well and is putting out nice fat new roots, but I don't know if I'm who you're referring to. ;)

Very good color. I have a couple of awarded Porter's Orchids Noirmonts posted on Stephen's Awarded Slippers Page, if you want to compare.

It is a superb cross , colour is superb.
Mine has longer petals , this may be because it is from 4n parents
or just that it has bloomed before.

Heather, Thanks for the pict link.

Dwayne, Thanks for your pict link.

Tim, I didn't bother to measure as it is a first bloom seedling but if you really want to know I'll get them for you.

Hi Jeff,

I guess I was just thinking that if it was nearing the size of the awarded clones that it might be in with a chance... but as u say, if it is a first bloom will most likely improve with age....

just out of interest, are these big plants? ie sorcerer's apprentice size?

cheers

Lovely color on the flower.

Well mine has 4 growths so pretty mature and has individual leaves 29" long but thinner & floppier than Phragensteins.
Spike is on it,s last flower(10th) & is a miniscule 50"high :D
Basically pretty BIG.

Dwayne stated it correctly...as a first bloom seedling it is larger than many of my full grown phrags.
