My parents were clearing a fallen tree from a friend's yard after Rita, and my mom sent me this HUGE garbage bag full of Spanish Moss that they took off the tree. I have been wanting some for a while but haven't had time to go traipsing around the forest. So here are a couple of photos of my outside growing area with my new moss. I have moved alot of things outside in the past month now that the weather is actually bearable here and out of the 100s!

Looks great! Just make sure there are no bugs hiding in there.

LOL Peter! Yeah there were PLENTY of Heather's favorite bug THE STINKBUG hiding in there! My husband enjoyed watching me squeal and run around as they flew at me from the moss!

What a nice peaceful retreat area.... Except for the Stinkers. Does Spanish moss make you itchy?

Nice place you have there. The plants do give a serene ambience, I like it.

Thanks for the compliments! I do love retreating out to my garden.

I haven't noticed any itchyness from the Spanish moss...is it supposed to cause reactions? Then again I always wear gloves when I garden because #1) I am afraid of sticking my hand in a pile of STINKBUGS, and #2) I have really sensitive skin and I am afraid it will react to just about anything.

You've used it very nicely! I love the stuff having lived half my life in Florida. I'm trying to grow some here in southern Japan to see if it will put up with the winters. I didn't get mine for free however. It cost $16 for one large handful! I laughed as I bought it, but nostagia runs deep.

Teresa, your patio looks wonderful and the moss looks great. What a great place to just sit down and relax....*sigh*

It's ironic that you are bringing your plants OUT now because your temps are going down, as some of us in the Northern USA have been running and scrambling to bring out plants IN from the cold.

I spent 3 weeks in Dallas 10 years ago, and had no clue how hot it could get there!
