It's been ages it seems since I've had a slipper bloom so I photographed my Phrage Eric Young today. I got this as a seedling at our OS meeting last November. Everyone got one as sort of a contest to see who could get theirs to bloom first. I have no idea if I'm first, but I tried something radical just for fun. I repotted this plant twice in the first six months. Don't know if that's what gave it a jump start, but it didn't seem to hurt.

I know what you mean about having to wait for a blooming slipper. My Cyps bloom only once a year (potentially), none of my parvi paphs have bloomed in over two years, and Phrag. Andean Fire is new so I don't know what it will do. That leaves two noid paphs that bloom annually. Solution: I need more slippers!

I like the posture of this flower, it is very stately. Is it large as well, and are the colors that pastel and blushed or is it darker? It's a keeper!

What a beautiful pink tone. Mine is more of a peach color. I also like the little twist on the petals.

What a wonderful colour -- great growing --
yes I too have found potting on seedlings helps them grow quicker Ive found the most difficult time of phrag seedling is from compot to 5'' seedlings and a couple of repots with introducing ferterlizer helps them grow better for me too
can't get over that wonderful colour just great.

The color is to die for...

Yes, the color is accurate--at least on my monitor. It's very peachy-pink and has nice substance. I can't remember what the prize is if I win--probably a gift certificate to Ackers. Or mayb it's a kovachii seedling. 8) In any case, since I "don't really grow Phrags" I won't be holding on to this one long.

You're right, Tom. Mix up your slippers and you'll be finding fewer periods with nothing to look at but leaves! :D
