View Full Version : Question Phrag besseae plant? newbie November 14th, 2009, 09:00 AM I was given one but somehow it died on me and I like to try another one. Any culture help or advise? Thanks! newbie November 14th, 2009, 09:02 AM Oh I forgot to mention. I live in an apt building so I grow my few plants indoors on windowsills. Thanks again! orchidlover November 14th, 2009, 10:43 AM Here you go. http://www.slipperorchidforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10028&highlight=besseae+culture Rocco November 14th, 2009, 12:35 PM Basically grow them in cool and humid temperate condition and they should do quite well. Go easy on fertilizer and use clean water, rainwater is best. newbie November 14th, 2009, 01:40 PM Thanks you two! I think I might have overwatered it and it died from that. Paphy57 November 15th, 2009, 08:59 PM I have killed one too. I don't think it is difficult to do! LOL Chosen One November 16th, 2009, 07:53 AM Newbies should first start with besseae hybrids and then move on the besseae plants with more experience. It will save you time and money. orchidlover November 16th, 2009, 01:18 PM Newbies should first start with besseae hybrids and then move on the besseae plants with more experience. LOL lol that is the easiest part!!! casey November 18th, 2009, 07:06 AM I also recommend besseae hybrids before moving on to species. ejchow84 November 27th, 2009, 08:06 PM I also grow them in my apartment and actually grow them alongside my kovachiis and fischeri. They all seem to like very bright light. They like their feet moist and pots sitting in a tray of water. I also add oyster shells to their fine bark mix. I agree, they do like the cool weather and are doing great despite my lack of humidity. |
