Just emailed and made an appointment. Was a fine experience. While I have to say I now prefer other vendors (better selection and more unusual plants elsewhere,) I got wrapped around the long petals of a Penn's Creek Cascade when I was there and couldn't escape. I've also used his mix, but now just buy the ingredients and make something similar myself as it is cheaper. I have also heard that he LOVES superthrive and someone else I know mentioned that he'd noticed a few deformed blooms on a visit there. I didn't notice that. In general, he just has a lot of common plants, not a lot of species. If you've seen him at shows, you'll know what I mean. I guess it just depends on what you are looking for. bob in nashua March 27th, 2005, 07:57 PM thanks heather for your reply, ive never been there or seen him at any shows. he was supposed to be at tht NH show, but someone said he had been sick. Where else in NH mass etc are there good nurserys?/greenhouse to visit? What are the ingredients you use to replicate hispotting mix, and what do you use it for? thanks again ,bob Paphgirl March 27th, 2005, 10:57 PM Hey Bob, you have a PM. :) couscous74 April 13th, 2005, 08:53 AM I had a very good exerience with Frank, the owner of Tindara. I wanted to get my mom a gift for her birthday last month and she lives near Tindara, while I live in Miami. I called Frank and he was very nice in helping me pick out a blooming Paph Rothschildianum for her. He even threw in a Paph Love Song. I haven't seen the plants yet, but everyone tells me they are beautiful. He mentioned at the time that his greenhouse was still snowed in and he couldn't really accomodate visitors at the time. I would be interested in hearing about your visit, if you go. Thanks, bob in nashua April 14th, 2005, 07:25 AM thanks marcus, ill let you know how it goes, when i go. yes, we have had a very snowy winter, most is gone now tho. gee, weve even had a 60 degree day! things are looking up! |
