Paphgirl October 9th, 2005, 10:10 AM Ah, capensis! That's the one I was trying to think of earlier.
I love the angelica, but they all look great!
The next time I go out to Western MA I think I'm going to have to divert and go to Greenfield and check out Black Jungle. (Stan, don't go getting *too* excited yet! I am still adjusting to having fish in the house. The cat has become quite interested. I caught her this morning standing up with her front paws on the plant tray that the aquarium is on, watching intently.)
likespaphs October 9th, 2005, 10:17 AM i really like the angelica, too
at the show, prolifera were grown in hanging baskets. they send off a flower stalk, which will bloom, but the stalk keeps growing and then keikis...excuse me, sends off little plantlets
TADD October 9th, 2005, 10:19 AM Very cool looking Carnies! I have to try some of these eventually.
couscous74 October 9th, 2005, 10:41 AM My Venus Flytraps currently have a little swarm of fungus gnats around them, and they aren't catching any of them. I guess that's why they're called "Fly" traps... :?
Gonna throw my little butterworts out there to see if they have better luck. Hopefully the gnats won't end up eating them instead...
Maybe I should try some sundews next :D
TADD October 9th, 2005, 10:42 AM RAID works great! :poke:
couscous74 October 9th, 2005, 10:47 AM I had my Raid taken away earlier this week - no joke. My paranoid mother thinks it will harm the baby. Then again, it's not exactly like I am spraying the baby, is it?
likespaphs October 9th, 2005, 10:59 AM butterworts and sundews will make quick work of the fungus gnats
another thing you can do for fungus gnats is put a piece of raw potato on the top of the media. let it sit a few days, take it off and there should be gnat larvae on it
throw away the potato
repeat if necessary
Paphgirl October 9th, 2005, 11:35 AM That potato thing sounds eerily like fruit fly culture!
LOL, I've been around you people too long if that's the first thing I think of!
I have not had the best luck with butterworts, as Marcus can attest to. :( Shame too, cause I really like them!
Park Bear October 11th, 2005, 09:47 AM for flies and gnats, I just buy a few anoles amd let them go in the greenhouse, geckos are too expensive.
fred October 11th, 2005, 08:44 PM Good photo's Brian I take it you enjoyed the show . I went on Sunday for a bit.As soon as I walked in the door a woman had a Phal, sitting there and when I commented on it to my wife she asked me what I thought was wrong with it. so I told her and she seemed a little surprised that I would know the answer but then I told her I had over two Hundred Phals.
Nynaeve October 11th, 2005, 09:37 PM Cool CPs! I need to gt more of these, they are great conversation pieces. My flytrap cates TONS of fungus gnats. It's really fun to watch it close on one  They move much faster than I suspected (the flytrap, not the gnats). I need to try a drosera next I think.
