View Full Version : Phrag. Ruby Slippers
Nynaeve October 5th, 2005, 10:44 PM Here is my newest phrag from Sherwood Orchids. I just repotted it into diatomite. It came in a tiny plastic pot and the roots were really bound in there, but healthy! I have been wanting this one for a while, I can't wait until it blooms! :-dance:
I also got more new plants, but not slippers...I will post those in the other gallery later.

Nynaeve October 6th, 2005, 01:09 PM Looks nice! Mine also came frm Sherwood more than a year ago.
So do you have any pointers for me???? :D
Paphraguy October 6th, 2005, 01:14 PM I don't know what your growing conditions are but I grow mine indoors directly under my HPS system where it gets very very bright light, lots of moisture, air flow, 50-65 % humidity and temps around 75. Are you growing indoors or outdoors or in a greenhouse?
Paphgirl October 6th, 2005, 01:15 PM Pretty hybrid and an excellent looking plant!
Nynaeve October 6th, 2005, 01:22 PM No greenhouse. Most of my stuff is outside. I have what I call a "Two Seasons" room attached to my patio. It is fully encloseable for cooler temps and has big glass windows. I leave the doors open all year except for the 5 days that it gets below 40 degrees. The majority of my plants are on my patio in bright shade or partial sun. A few of my dens/catts/vandas take direct sunlight all day.
My slippers I have in my indoor atrium that is 60-70% humidity and 85 degrees with about 50% shade. I grow most of my phals outside, I'm thinking my phrags might enjoy it out there better than in the atrium. They could definitely get more light outside. Hopefully I have seen the last of the 100 degree temps for this year.

Grandma MC October 6th, 2005, 07:44 PM My order from Sherwood also came yesterday and I also got a Ruby Slippers and an Ascd. Princess Mikasa 'Indigo'.
I told you I have been having 'Cabin Fever' since being cooped up like this after falling. I couldn't resist ordering some orchids from Sherwood and Piping Rock. My plant from Sherwood still need plant up but here is a pic of the Piping Rock order.

I have a PT come in twice a week trying to help me walk again. He is so facinated with my orchids that he takes his camera along each time. Today he brought a beautiful print of my 'Angela' which he took to Costco to have it printed up. It is a very large print and I am going to have it framed. The prices there are very inexpensive for the size. I am also surprised at the quality. The large one he had printed is 12 X 18 and cost $2.99. The 4 X 6 are 17 cents each.
I'll post a pic when I get it framed.
