Hey there everybody. I have a few phrags now and I'm used to repotting my Paphs primarily in Spring although some of them in Autumn. Two of the Phrags I have have tag notes that indicate they were last potted in 2003 so I'm thinking they're due to be repotted.

The two plants are Green Hornet and an S A. Both are well established plants with the S A showing two very new growths at its base. The Green Hornet is showing the first signs of some sort of distress while the S A is powering along.

When's the best time to repot Phrags? Do they have any preference?

I did a quick search and couldn't find anything for replanting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Stephan

I would say in springtime when new growth appears , If you could remove the plant from the to get a glimpse of the roots that could be helpfull, it's best to repot when the roots are not active or when new root are just emerging, repotting a plant during it's growth can be risky

I repot upon arrival of a new plant, or post blooming if it arrives in bud, or post blooming and I see a new growth in my care. However, I will add that many of my Phrags have heavy root new growth all the time and I don't tend to mess with them when that's going on.

I've had a few Phrags sulk for quite a while post re-potting/dividing. caricinum and ecuadorense and of course, we all know, my besseaes. Figures, the plants you love the most....sigh.

Just have Heather hold it!!! She'll drop it :poke: I repot whenever. If the plant is in trouble A.S.A.P. If not in the spring with all of my paphs. Who am I kidding, I repot all the time. As Paphgirl said as soon as I get a new plant, after it is done flowering etc... Phrags don't really mind being repotted, at the same time some like to have somewhat deteriorated mixes.

I repot them when they need it. I have repoted them in spike. With no problem. When you have specimen plants they may be in flower all the time. I have a longifolium that has been flowering for a few years and needs repotting so i will pull it out repot it or divide it. It will probally be set back for a few weeks but will be back to normal. Sometimes you just can't wait. It is best to try and wait till they finish flowering. when there is only a few growths you can do this.
