I just went upstairs and found that apparently, we must have had some strong wind today. My Penn's Creek Cascade was on the floor! Three stories down from it's (very elevated) perch!

Miraculously, despite two broken leaves on the older growth, the new growth was not damaged at all. Remember how I was commenting the other day on how I think this plant has the fattest spike I've ever seen. Well, the spike is also undamaged! Amazinging! I'm shocked!!

That's some good breeding!

YIKES! That is amazing! Are incidents like these why you are called the HAMMER?

Was it in an open window? Or 3 stories off your shelves to the floor below... Like 6 feet? or 45 ?

Sigh....how did I know that dang nickname would rear it's ugly head in this thread? :(

The shelving is in front of my windows, which are casement, so open from the top and bottom. It was rainy today. The cat couldn't be responsible. Fell about 6 feet.

LOL, well Heather I should probably have a nickname that illustrates my talent for sunburning my orchids. I just keep thinking "more light will help...." :poke:

And if it's any consolation, yesterday I was watering one of my enormous catts that is in a 14" hanging basket, weighing about 15 pounds or so, and the wire holding it broke. It plummeted about 6ft down and landed directly on top of my spathoglottis plicata, flattening it immensly.

Don't you just hate accidents like that? Last night my Phrag caricinum fell 6 feet from a branch that broke but the plant is doing fine. The bottom of the pot broke though but as long as the plant is fine, I'm happy!

Gee thanks TADD...I knew I could count on you to give me a fitting nickname :embarass:

As for my aching spathoglottis plicata...it's perked right back up and seems to be doing fine today :D

I prefer them when I can blame the cat and chase her around a little. :)
Actually I found a new growth too!

HEATER
I was thinking TORCH GIRL, but hey....TADD's the official giver of nicknames I guess. Maybe we could put that title under his username!

If it rebounded right back it must be pretty tough.
