Hi, I was just wondering on the average how long a Paph blooms for?

My last one bloomed for 1 month compared to 3 last time, it then started to shrivel in the pouch and soon was ready to be cut back. We did have some very hot weather but have central air in our home. Can this heat even with air still affect the length of time for blooming?

It all depends, what kind of Paphs you have. Some last longer than others. The multis can stay in bloom for a month upto 2 months and the more mature sequentials can stay in bloom for 6 months to a year or 2 or more!

And some of the uniflorals can bloom one bloom only for three months. My Phrags tend to stay in bloom for a long time in general. Hybrids longer than some species. Sequential species though can bloom quite a while.

Let's put it this way - I've not been disappointed blooming only slippers. I seem to always have something going. Not a bazillion of them at once, but many are still young.

Yep, the uniflorals like my hain stays in bloom for up to 3 months or more, the last time it stayed in bloom for 6 months with 2 spikes in bloom one after the other.

lack of water and extra heat will cause the flower to shrivel faster. my own bitter experience.

My brachys (concolor, niveum and leucochilum) bloom last for about 6 weeks in our tropical weather.

Although some paphs bloom for a longer time than others...(Maudiae and complex types the longest, brachy's and multiflorals less long, sequentials the least, species variable) any one paph can vary in its bloom time. Its not unusual to have a paph bloom last 3 months the first time, 1 month the next time. Its probably due to variations in humidity and watering...and seasonal as well. Winter blooms last much longer than summer blooms. My insigne normally last 6 weeks....on rare occasions it blooms in the summer, and then its blooms don't last longer than 3 weeks. Take care, Eric
