Hi All. Need your help with my micranthum. I have 3 currently (4th died) and need some advice from those that grow under lights. My plants are just sitting there not doing much of anything. I had them growing in small/medium coconut with some perlite watering to keep the mix moist (or what I think is moist) One had lost most of its roots and I'm trying to recover it currently the way I got my emersonii to come back. ( S/H with diatomite)
Questions are:
What type of mix are you using?
Do you let the mix dry out before you water again?
What temps?
Help much appreciated as I'm totally confused currently on how to get these sucker growing.....I'll worry about flowering later.

I'm not much help I'm afraid. I have a three growth micranthum and have only had it about 3 months now. From what I've read they're slowish to grow (mine have sprouted a new leaf on two fo the three growths) and cold loving.
Mine are in a widish plastic pot with small bark and perlite mix. I'll be repotting them/it later this month so may have more for you regards success of that particular mix on root growth.
Cheers

I grow mine cool, outside in reasonably heavy shade. They are watered regularly and I never let them dry out completely.
In summer I water nearly every day, in winter less so. You do need to let them dry out a little (the mix I mean) but not so they are completely dry.
Once you get a feel for it, it becomes easy to know what to do, it's hard to explain, especially coming from a different climate. I use nothing but bark.

I had my micranthum die on me when I moved it to SH.
I think its ok for them to be somewhat dry (at the pot) if they have dead roots and no new roots are growing yet.
However they should still get lots of humidity from 80 to 90 % since it will be the leaves that will get
the moisture instead of the roots. This will prevent them from drying out and help them grow new roots.

My micranthum and armeniacum are in baskets. I use the basic CHC mix as per antec labs, but add about 20% of the mix with oyster shell.
I keep the humidity up around 70% year round, and moss grows on top of the mix.
I generally water with RO water, and fertilze 1Xper week with MS formula/superthrive/pH adjusted to 7.5 with Protech.
They get some bright light in the mornings (about 2000fc) presently, but that's probably why the micranthum is spiking now. That amount of light is more appropriate for winter.
They are in the greenhouse, and the temp probe says they are getting to about 90 this summer. They have put on roots and growths this summer. In the winter I will let them get into the low 50's at night, and add lights.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've switched my largest back to a seedling bark, perlite, chc mix, under higher light and more air flow.
One of these conditions has to help it.
