Being split, you mean divided? I've not had any issues with that hindering growth actually, especially w/ Phrags! My longi, cari, and Grande divs have done great! In general, I think Phrags are the easier of the slipper beasties! Oooh, that sounds nastie - calling them beasties! They are my babies!!!! :(

No wish to offend!!

It looks a lot like my Inca Embers.

This and Inca Embers should look similiar...the same three species were used to make both, one thru Andean Fire and the other thru Eric Young.

You're so right. They all share the bess parent species.

It is still blooming strong 2 months later and shows no sign of stopping on this spike! You gotta love it.

Yep, these hybrids can stay in bloom for a very long time!

Yeah, and depending on who you ask, Andean Fire, Mem. Dick Clements, and Rosalie Dixler are all the same hybrid. I tend to agree there, just on taxonomic grounds. Sargentianum, lindleyanum, and kaieteurum are pretty much the same thing.

So, instead of paying good money for Jason Fischer (Mem. Dick Clements x besseae), get an Inca Fire (Andean Fire x besseae). They are just as good. *grin* Inca Fire is terribly underappreciated, actually.

Rob,

Similiar...yes, BUT Jason Fischers are much more available from what I have seen.

I say 'Collect 'em all!'

Indeed. That is why I think Inca Fire is underappreciated... Jason Fischer got all the press (hey, he seems like a nice kid, probably deserves it). So I think they have remade that cross and it is more available.

And they might not have a Rosalie Dixler or Andean Fire 4N plant to cross with the 4N besseae. That would be where the really good ones would come from...

Another very similar hybrid is Inca Embers. Mine grows like a weed and always stays in bloom for months. Here is link: Inca Embers (http://www.rainbowcomputers.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27)
