:woohoo: I'm getting a two growth phrag cardinale plant from a friend who has very little experience with phrags. It has never flowered for her but I need help or tips on how to flower it. Thanks!

With 2 growths I'm guessing it is large enough to bloom. Lots of light and water I suppose for the plant to bloom. Are you growing in a greenhouse or on a windowsill?

I wish I had a greenhouse but I grow my plants indoors on a window sill. Thanks for the tip!

Days are also getting shorter so provide more light that is artificial light.

Remember Phrag Cardinale is a hybrid so the name should be capitalized. Cardinale is very easy to grow and flower more forgiving than most Phrags. Bright light is essential for blooming.

:iagree: It also loves water. LOTS of water.

I grow mine indoors under HPS lighting and it is one of the fastest (and easiest) growing Phrags I have in my collection. It does get large and bushy very quickly. Since one of the parent species is longifolium, it loves water and require bright light to grow and bloom. Mine has been in bloom for quite sometime and is still in bloom.

Is it a true Cardinale? There are many Sedenii labeled as Cardinale. I agree they are very easy plants to grow.

The LS is about 24-28 inches and has many growths. I'll take a picture of the plant tomorrow and post it here.

Mine actually came with a tag that read Phragmipedium Schlimii 'Birchwood' AM/AOS but we know that is actually a Phragmipedium Cardinale.

I dont understand why AOS still hasn't bothered to correct that mistake!
