I have a root mealy bug problem and was wondering has anyone seen these on their cyps?

I discovered these while potting up some cyps and removed what i could by physically removing them off but Im sure there will be eggs that I have missed.

I have read that Paphs do suffer from root mealy bug and can be controlled chemically but was wondering if Cyps were sensitive to pesticides.

Any experiance from anyone?

Cheers

I have no experience with Cyps but this is what I would do. If they are potted then I would repot them with fresh new potting medium after getting rid of all the bugs from the roots.

For Paphs, I just wash through diluted dish soap, and then rinse with water. I don't know if cyps would tolerate that though.

I have used Imacloprid (Merit) on Cyps with no ill effects.

Most people don't realize how tough Cyps plants are.

Never heard of mealy bug on roots. I know you are in Aussieland but coming from a Brit are you sure you haven't planted them upside-down!!!!!!!!!!! ( only joking ). Hope you get rid of them.

Thanks for the response...

After repotting I did use fresh potting mix and it sounds like chemical treatement will be ok if I have to and only the Brits would think we do everything up side down...haha!
