I bought it in March, and it seems like it's the first blooming. I was afraid of budblast because of the moving prosess and new environment, so I am quite happy now :D

Yes but... There is someone in the Netherlands selling besseae 'Wings of Fire' AM/RHS as wholesale, and many plants have found their way to many nurseries in Europe. Besseae 'Wings of Fire' is sterile, and in fact, after some discussion, these plants are normal forms of besseae unrelated at all to Wings of Fire, whose the English owner can confirm that it is a sterile plant. The flasks were said to come from Ecuador.

Very nice besseae anyway !

Thank's for your info. I didn't know that. I bought this in Sweden, and it could come from the Netherlands. Well, suppose I should just call it besseae then?

It looks like other besseae 'Wings of Fire" to me, so don't throw away the label yet, just enjoy what you have! :D It is really beautiful.

I have yet to flower a phrag and would be VERY proud to have grown and flowered that plant. I can buy bessea but haven't yet because I'd rather have some "runs" under my belt (so to speak).

It's a nice plant and flower - congrats.

It is a very good besseae, but "Wings of Fire" must be removed, it is an awarded cultivar name that is unrelated... It is like selling rothschildianum 'Mt Millais'.

Are You shure about "Wings" sterility - I once bought in Japan Grand prix Orchid Festival some colchicine treated seedlings of selfed "wings" from Mike Tibbs of England and they do nicely and hope to flower soon after some years of stagnation due to my situation.
