This is a pretty neat forum. I like it!

Anyways, here is my Paph Psyche. I got this three years ago as a rootless seedling with lots of survival rowths. It's taken awhile to nurse it back to health but it is definitely worth it.

That's a nice one! I really like how the pouch has no spots on it, but everything else does. Sometimes bellatalum and its' hybrids make me a little dizzy, but this one I really like. Thanks for posting and good job, Nurse Wendy! :)

Nice plant Wendy. Great work in getting it back to health. Brachy's are hard enough as it is. A rootless plant wouldn't have been easy. Psyche is great isn't it. Mine grows like a weed and the flowers are so cute. My plant is flowering at the moment as well. Here it is. The flower shape isn't as good as yours, but it is still nice. It actually has a third bud opening at the moment as well.

Hey, David's pouches have spots!
So, what's normal? Spots or no spots?

Nice Psyche, David - I like the "pot" it is in also, very cool and they look very natural in it!

Well I had a look on the Antec site and all 6 photos had spots which suggests this is more common.

are these normally on short spikes?

Park - my photo is a bit deceptive. The flowers are actually on a spike of about 15 or so centremetres. But still relative to other Paphs this is pretty short. The shortness of this spike comes from the bellatulum species where the flowers basically sit on the leaves.

I did an image search and I couldn't find another w/ no spots on the pouch. I think that's really pretty cool! I hope you don't think I'm picking on anyone's plant, I just find it really interesting. It is really unique w/ no spots and draws your eye to the fact that the spots on the inside of the pouch are really tiny compared to the others and I didn't notice that before when they are on the pouch also.

Isn't nature just amazing?!

Hi there Wendy! Nice Psyche! I too, like the "no spots" variety of this hybrid. Congrats on bringing this one back from the dead!

What, Wendy's gonna get naked? I'd expect that from your mom but not from you.

I would say ... it may arrise from a leucochilum ... which is having no spots on pouch ... Normal Psyche which is having bellatulum parentage should normally bear at least some spots on the pouch ...

Could it be a niveum x leucochilum ??

Avery - I was thinking the same thing. And the spots on the petals are much chunkier than that of a normal Psyche. Much more like that of hybrids with leucochilum. I'm just about to post a photo of S Gratrix which will illustrate this.
