This was grown by a member of the NHOS. Check out the timing on this baby! This opened just this morning. I had not ever seen one in person and it was very fragrant, and a HUGE flower. I should bring my measuring tape from now on....I don't know how big it was exactly, but easily the size of a grapefruit! Sorry my photos won't do it justice. No one could believe that a bloom with such a short lifespan could time the society meeting so well! Too bad it wasn't an AOS judging. It is an AM/AOS cross apparently.

do you have any culture tips for growing a Stanhopea, I got Stanhopea oculata x Paphinia herrerae in a trade not to long ago I planted it into a hanging basket of nz moss it is not doing any thing just seams to set there but it does look ok kind of a light green, still very small. Any help would be appreciated.

Tigrina are wonderful smelling! That is a nice photo! These will flower several times a year also!

Mine has a sweet smell, definitely not "off", I noticed the photo was taken in a garage, it wasn't maybe the motor oil you were smelling? :poke:

Well, I don't know, but the scent was a little odd. Not terrible, but not fantastic like cinnamon or anything (I love the scent of cinnamon, but only real cinnamon!!)
