Hi All! Wondering what you all thought of this cross. My wife is going to go halfsees on a flask for my bday next month. :-dance: Sam Tsui of Orchid Inn just sent out a new list for Canada so I ordered........

Because I'm just getting into the complex types and thought this looked nice and was in my price range:
OIE0211 Paph. Sierra Bell 'Jumbo' x Tokyo Knight Dream 'Pure White'
Sierra Bell is bellatulum x Sierra Lace. Jumbo is huge and round and it is crosses cross with huge modern white. Expect white flowers with good substance and some very fine pink spots

I also ordered a flask of druyi. I tried a seedling earlier this year but it died. I don't seem to have much luck establishing seedling in my conditions from other growers but can get most of a flask to survive if I do it myself.

OID0346 Paph. druryii x sib ('The King' AM/AOS x 'New Wave')
An remade using one of the best from our previous F1 sib cross ('The King' AM/AOS x 'The Queen' AM/AOS) and cross back it back to it's parent. Also available as the reverse sib cross OID0334

Oh, the wait is going to kill me......along with.....where am I going to put them.

So fun getting new babies, isn't it?
Tho, I also hate the waiting....still think it is going to be too hot next week to ship my
Mexipedium. :(

It's all good Ray :)

The complex will be interesting. How many plants in the flask? How many will you keep (all? until flowered?) ?

Cheers

I have both those crosses from Sam in compot now.

The Sierra Bell x Tokyo Night Dream should be a KILLER cross. Awesome parents there and I am hoping for some results that will be breedable against some of the Carmen Coll and Sioux crosses (including the Carmen Coll x Sioux I have also in compot now.) No brainer here- good call on your part.

So far those are doing well for me- nice fat little plants with more of a bellatulum look than anything else.

The druryis came out of flask like a dream. I got 3 full compots out of one flask and they are all moving along very quickly just a couple of weeks after delivery. If things continue, I will get 30+ plants total yield.

Good choices on your part. I sell portions of most of my flasks when they reach a certain age, but I will be keeping most of the Sierra Bell x Tokyo Night Dream. These complex x Brachy crosses are always risky- there is usually a fairly high rate of really screwy looking flowers, but when you hit a good one there is no comparison.

Thanks all the cheering, l.....even you Tadd :poke:
I'm hoping to see at least a few of the complex bloom before I start trading and selling off. I really like the challenge of getting the little buggers to flowering size.
Elpaninaro and I seem to have the same taste in paphs so I'm looking forward to seeing some pics of his babies when they bloom out......years away but I'm still excited.
From the last few flasks I've received from Sam, there are usually 20 to 30 seedlings.
