I last wrote to the forum 2 years ago wondering if there was any way I could move the cypripedium acaule that had been growing along our property line. Our neighbors had the trees cut on the property line and I thought the plants would die out never to return.

I did not move the plants as I had never done this before and did not want to take a chance on them never coming back. Well, it took two years but the plants did regenerate on their own and bloomed again this spring. I don't know if they will continue yearly as the acidity of the soil will probably continue to change without the pine trees growing there anymore. We do have hardwood trees growing, replacing the pines.

Any thoughts on what to expect?

You could leave them there and just make the soil more acidic by applying pine straw mulch or relocate them.

It seems like they are doing fine on their own.

If they are growing and flowering well then I would leave them alone and amend the soil.
